The PHANTOM.MONITOR program checks the status of each currently running phantom.  If a process is currently being executed, and if it has exceeded its maximum run time, the program will recognize it as a “hung” phantom and send an email to the system administrator(s) to alert them to the situation.  The PHANTOM.MONITOR can be run in its own phantom or, on UNIX systems, it should be run as a CRON job.
